Paul is truly the rock. His improvement on defense has been phenomenal. Moreover, he is tough as nails.

Well-written, but you are incorrect on one point: Paul Pierce had previously been to the playoffs 4 times and advanced twice. 2002 the Celtics advanced to the Conference Finals where the Nets beat them. In 2003, they advanced to the Conference Semifinals where the Nets (really) beat them; they beat an Indiana team that was more talented, although the Celtics had two things at the start going for them: a better coach and the best player in the series. Much the same was said about the Lakers before these Finals but so far, it has been the Celtics with those advantages.

I would also add Ray did a pretty good job, all things considered, on Kobe the first two games. A lot of people think he is frontrunning for Finals MVP at this point (although to me it is Paul Pierce no question). While Pierce's showstopping performances have made people forget about Ray's struggles to a degree, I think Ray has just played better. Since game 2 of the ECF he's been pretty much on target.

Great article man!! It's true Paul Pierce is the focal point of that team. If he doesn't get things going Ray Allen and Kevin Garnett are just to big name guys who can't get the job done without help. It hurts to say that as Ray is my favorite in the NBA.
