This is so right! Detroit can make it to the finals, because we have seen year after year they play their best basketball during playoffs. Their an all around clutch team and they can handle a lot of pressure. DEEEETROIT BASKETBALLLLL!

This article makes some great arguments, and I believe that the Pistons do indeed have to best chance of being on top when it is all said and done. They will arguably have an advantage by not being a number one seed in the playoffs. Both Boston and Detroit should sweep their first round opponents, but Boston will have an extremely tough time in round two as they will probably have to play Cleveland, who in my mind is better than Orlando. Cleveland went to the Finals last year, and after that blockbuster trade, they are a force to be reckoned with. Cleveland would be more of a threat to Detroit than Orlando would. Detroit can knock off Orlando in 5 or 6 while the Boston-Cleveland series will undoubtedly go 6 or 7 games. If Detroit makes it to the Finals they can win because they have already proven themselves against the Western conference elite. Thus, the Pistons will be the 2008 NBA Champions. DEEETROIT BASKETBAAALL!!!!!!!!!

It's because they are North of the Border, and say what you will of Chris Bosh, he doesn't have that superstar "mentality" in my opinion. Meanwhile other teams have big personalities such as Kevin Garnett, Dwight Howard and LeBron James. Teams that play as just that --a team, tend to get less recognition with the mainstream media in the US.

I think it's too large of an assumption to figure that the Pistons will simply take care of the relatively easier teams in the East so quickly en route to the ECF. This wasn't the case last year, after all, as they needed 6 to dispatch of a Bulls team that had no business winning even one game; to say nothing of losing to a Cavs team that had no business beating Detroit at all.

The Pistons once again will face their greatest opponents in themselves and whether they can actually mentally focus enough to really take care of business like a veteran, playoff-savvy team should. They still tend to play like a team that has a sense of entitlement, like they'll be in the Finals just cause, duh, they're the Detroit Pistons! I still have serious doubts about their killer instinct and their ability to bring it when they need to. Cleveland, Orlando & Boston won't be so easily dispatched this year, IMO.

I totally agree that the Pistons may have an easy time coming out of the East --especially if someone upsets Boston. There is only one other team with the chemistry that Detroit has, and that's San Antonio.

With all that said though, the playoffs are also about who gets hot at the right time, just ask the Dallas Mavericks of '07.
