The New York Knicks are difficult to watch. They play with a lackadaisical attitude fit more for a shoot around than the game itself. Many nights in many arenas teams open in free-flow mode: one pass, open jumper, two passes, open jumper. Defense is for after muscles are loosened and minds are right. For Charlotte the game officially begins with 7:58 remaining in the first quarter with a one point lead and the score 14-13.For New York, the score is 67-44 at the half - they are down 23 points …

Great game in Boston tonight, probably the best game I’ve seen all season. The Celtics just went down to the Detroit Pistons 87-85 on two last-second free throws from Chauncey Billups.
With 1.7 seconds remaining, Billups pump faked Tony Allen right out of his shoes, leaned in, and let it fly. Whistle. 0.1 seconds left on the clock. Two makes for Chauncey. Game over.
Boston put up a really good fight, and showed that they can play through some adversity. Ray Allen hit some big shots, Kevin Garnett made some big plays, …

It must be Christmas, cause I heard a lot of clang-clang last night.
No, wait, it’s only the 18th.
Here’s the question for all the Raptors fans that stayed up until the wee hours of the morning (me, I ended up catching the Game in an Hour this morning), “Should we be proud of our team, or disappointed that we won by three measly points against an undermanned, under talented Clippers team?” Cause I’m not sure what to think right now. Part of me wants to berate the team for …

Have you ever wondered why it’s so important for college programs to make the NCAA Tournament? If so, then read check out this excerpt from Michael Litos book:
A big portion of the $11 billion contract that CBS signed with the NCAA is wrapped up in what the NCAA calls it’s “Basketball Fund.” The fund is essentially monies sent to NCAA member schools for making the NCAA Tournament and advancing into deeper rounds.
According to the NCAA: The basketball fun provides for moneys to be distributed to Division 1 conferences based on …

Lebron James is back on the hardwood, Craig Smith has evolved into a fantasy player, and Brandon Roy is enjoying his best run as a professional. Here’s a look at a few of the topics being discussed over the past week on fantasy basketball forum on FantasyFanatics.com:
Craig Smith Can Score with the Best of Them
At 6’7” and 272 lbs. Craig Smith has a Charles Barkley-type body and he is getting closer to imitating his game. The Timberwolves selected Smith in the second …

Fear. In the 90’s I had a T-shirt that told everyone behind me that it was just another four letter word. For this Raptors team, we’ve had three games in a row where they’ve stared into the intense eyes of Kevin Garnett and wilted together. The Raptors offense, anemic for the entire afternoon, left no doubt to the fact that the Raptors still have a long way to go before being able to really become the elite of the league.
The Celtics trounced our Raptors this snowy afternoon because they …

Oh baby, we’re snowed in this weekend in Toronto. I commend anyone able to make it to the Air Canada Centre, simply because you’ll have to shovel your way out the door today.
We’ve got the Celtics in town to take on the Raptors. Toronto are going for their 5th win in a row, while the Celtics are looking for their 9th win in a row, their 20th victory of the season. They are well ahead of the pack so far - Orlando looked like they might challenge the Celtics early, …

So I’m having dinner with my friends, and I look up out of the corner of my eye past my friend’s head to see the Raptors tied with Indiana at 34-34. Drifting back to conversation, we talk about our days, our meals, and I glance up a few minutes and Indiana is up 45-34.
As far as games go, the Raptors were looking like a fairly ugly team for about three quarters. Unable to find the basket, and not closing out on a great 3-point shooting team will end up creating …

Forget beauty and the beast! Dwight Howard is far from being a gentle, graceful, soft touch basketball player. He is known for his dominate post up game. And when he is not posting you up, he is jumping through the roof to either block your shot or throw it down with nasty funk. What other seven-footer do you know that can touch the top of the backboard and has a vertical over 35 inches? Let’s get realistic here. How does a seven footer have more hops then a Sam Adams …
