Despite what Coach Mitchell has said, this European leg of the Raptors’ preseason has been quite an eye opener. As I predicted when training camp began, it’s not really so much the defensive end that the Raptors have to worry about, but rather, it’s the Raptors’ offensive end and attacking the zone. In addition, it’s good that Mitchell felt compelled to win those games against the Euroleague, because I don’t think the first two units have gelled as much as some people believe and they will need more …

It’s the time of the year when the MLB and NASCAR playoffs are happening, the NFL season is in full swing, the NHL regular season has just begun, and the NBA season is getting ready to make its presence felt. There are less than 30 days until the 2007-08 season begins, yet for the moment, all we can do is project.
So, in line with others readying themselves, I’m going to begin checking in with NBA news and regular season projections. In the spirit of CBS Sports.com’s Tony Mejia I’m starting …

Did you get chills?
Seeing that lineup standing there in the middle of Lottamatica? Listening to the crowd cheer their adopted “home” team for the first pre-season game? Looking at the Raptors lineup there are many reason to be exciting. Up and down, you can feel the possibilities of this team that on any given night, someone’s going to step it up. Will it be Garbajosa with some long range bombing? Will it be Delfino with aggressive play to the basket?
The Raptors took a nice lead …

For this Raptors Season Preview I chatted with Franchise from Raptors HQ about Toronto’s chances this season. Here’s the outcome:

Ryan McNeill: After gutting the roster last summer Bryan Colangelo enjoyed a relatively quiet summer by making one trade and inking two players.
Shortly after the draft Colangelo added Carlos Delfino for two second round picks. Delfino loathed being stuck behind Richard Hamilton and Tayshaun Prince and his trade to Toronto provides him with a chance to earn extended minutes this season. I feel that Delfino will be a great addition because …

Last Friday at media day Jamario was one of my favourite interviews and we talked about his excitement about his first NBA training camp, his expectations for training camp, how he wants to carve out a role for himself as a defensive stopper and his newfound love for the city of Toronto.

Last Years Record: 47-35
Key Losses: Morris Peterson
Key Additions: Carlos Delfino, Jason Kapono
1. What significant moves were made during the offseason? The Raptors stayed relatively still during the off-season as far as transactions are concerned and without a first round draft pick they aren’t bringing in much new young talent either. The Raps did however manage to steal Carlos Deflino away from a frustrated Pistons squad and threw some money at Jason Kapono. Whether the additions of Delfino and Kapono will make the Raptors significantly better is still in question. …

During the Raptors media day last week I was able to get Luke Jackson to chat with me about the possibility of the 6′7″ southpaw pursing a baseball career when he retires from the NBA, how he plans to earn playing time this season and what it’s like to be freed from the pressure of being a lottery pick.
